Coronavirus Wedding DJ

Is my wedding disco allowed to go ahead? What are the wedding DJ coronavirus rules? Can I have a DJ at my wedding with COVID-19 restrictions? Can we socially distance and have our wedding disco?

Wedding DJ Hire & Coronavirus

In our last update about Coronavirus Wedding DJ guidance we spoke about the impacts of COVID-19 on wedding discos and how flexible wedding DJ companies were being in response to the government restrictions.

As at 3rd August 2020, the latest government guidance states the following: “Wedding receptions or parties should not currently be taking place and any celebration after the ceremony should follow the broader social distancing guidance of involving no more than 2 households in any location or, if outdoors, up to 6 people from different households.”

With particular impact on wedding DJs and wedding discos, it goes on to state:

“People should avoid singing, shouting, raising voices and/or playing music at a volume that makes normal conversation difficult or that may encourage shouting. This is because of the potential for increased risk of transmission from aerosol and droplets.”

The rules speak about an ambition of allowing small wedding receptions to resume which would mean no more than 30 people but this will not take place until at least August 15th 2020, at the earliest.

It’s possible that socially distanced wedding receptions will be allowed to start again in the near future but this will most likely be for a limited number of guests to attend the ceremony and a meal. Wedding discos, evening celebrations, dancing and amplified music, still seem to be a way off unfortunately.

As always, at the Live Events Group we continue to be as flexible as possible with couples planning their wedding disco and we will monitor the developments very closely in the coming weeks and months as we eagerly anticipate a return to DJ work at weddings once again.
